This 18-room inn is housed within a Spanish Colonial-revival building, designed in 1931 by George M. Thomas Studios, and originally called the “Hilton-by-the-sea.” Half a block from the beach in downtown Santa Barbara, the property formerly served as winter housing for university students, and was rented to tourists during summer months. Acquired by private owners in 1981, it was opened to the public in 1982. All mechanical systems have been replaced, the exterior has been restored, and a new roof added. Additional site improvements include a solar-heated pool and spa tub, courtyard enclosure. Other amenities include a complimentary Continental breakfast, and evening wine and hors d’oeuvres; and port and sherry. A masseuse is on-call.
